This Atomic City Thrift logo was created entirely by me for a thrift store that opened this year in the city I grew up in.
I had the privilege of designing these save the dates for my cousin and her fiancé! The style that she wanted is completely in line with my design style. My first design was very similar to one she had shown me as an example, but her and her fiancé ended up liking this one (one of several late night brain storms). I love the way they turned out, and I cannot forget to give credit to the wonderful photographer, Brenda Kae Photography, for this wonderful picture! I can't wait for more opportunities like this one!
As well as graphic design, I do some artisan work. This is a handcrafted necklace that I sold at a show in Idaho. I did all of the metal stamping myself, "wish" and the dandelion poof. Making jewelry is so fun and I love finding ways to create something out of the tools I have on hand. The dandelion poof is actually created from a capital "I" stamp that I have. Making use of what you already have is always fun.
Wedding designs are so much fun. People have their own ideas and styles of how they want everything to look and go together. The bride is usually the one I work with; they have their ideas and they don't always match up with mine, but this makes me think outside of my own style and stretch myself.
This bridal shower invitation and guest sign-in canvas happened to be very much my style and I really enjoyed making them.
The bridal shower invitation was for a shower that had a aqua and coral color scheme with fresh cut flowers and succulent center pieces.
The guest sign-in was printed onto canvas. This gave it that artwork look as well as a simple decoration to hang up in the couples' new home to remind them of their special day. The guests stamped the canvas with their fingerprint and wrote their name by their fingerprint. Each fingerprint was a balloon at the end of a string.
This necklace was specially made for a friend who asked me if I could make her a necklace with these symbols on it. When she wears it people ask about it and she is able to use it as a witness to tell others about Christ and how He really is greater than anything we can think of. This necklace has a tribal look to it because of its rough look combined with the arrow and leather knot. Stamping this one poses some difficulties but it is definitely worth it in the end.
This is just an example of one of my favorite styles: combining photography and illustration. I created this illustration to demonstrate this style.
Have you ever seen those vintage bottle brush Christmas trees that have 100 little ornaments glued onto them so that you can barely even see the tree itself anymore? Well that is what inspires my handcrafted bottle brush trees. Each tree is created by hand, trimmed, and dyed by me. I then adorn each one with whatever suits its look. Most of them are nestled in vintage glass bottles, wooden spools, or some other "vessel." Many also feature another vintage element such as tiny glass ornaments or porcelain figurines.
This Christmas sweater is made to be printed on a long sleeve shirt, short sleeve shirt, or crew neck sweatshirt of any color. Other elements can easily be added or taken away from the design. The design is meant to have the feel of a knit sweater. This design also has the ability to be as big or as small as one would want it to be.
A couple years ago fairy gardens became very popular. I loved the idea of these miniature gardens, but I never really have cared for fairies. Because of that I decided to create GNOME GARDENS! Yes, other people have created them too. They are so much fun, and who could resist a cute little gnome? I created these little gnome houses, gnomes, and other accessories for miniature gnome gardens. This particular miniature garden is in a vintage, U.S.A. Pottery, planter. My mom had some of these planters but didn't know what she was going to put in all of them. That is where I come along and get to fill them with little gnome houses and garden accessories. As I have mentioned before, I love tiny things, so these gnome houses are so much fun for me to make and set up in a miniature garden. I hope you enjoy them; let me know if you have any comments!
